Meet some of the Team

Colin Balchin Director

After completing a BSc (Honours) in Civil Engineering and a B.Phil in Management Studies from Oxford and Edinburgh Universities respectively, Colin worked primarily as a site engineer or analyst and management consultant. He was project control manager for a number of oilfield developments. Throughout his later career Colin has focused on training and development, leading him to design and deliver an MSc programme in Project Management for the University of Aberdeen. As Adept's Director for Project Management/Risk training and consultancy, Colin's work takes him to every continent, working with global organisations to promote successful Project Management strategies.

Dr Gordon Rankine Development Director/ Senior Training Consultant

Gordon Graduated in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and gained a PhD in Computer Engineering from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh. Throughout his career he has been involved in a wide array of engineering, manufacturing and product development projects at the highest level. He has also provided encryption and data security consultancy services to a number of global organisations. As Adept's Development Director, Gordon is able to combine his software design and development activities with his commitment to providing top-level Project Management training.

Angus Duncan Senior Training Consultant

After gaining a BSc in Building Surveying from Aberdeen's Robert Gordon University, Angus worked on a number of large IT and building projects in his career. He successfully implemented the Higher Education Management Information System (HEMIS) at the University of Aberdeen, and later returned to gain an MSc in Project Management. Angus now delivers highly successful Project Management and Project Control training all over the United Kingdom, including both APM and PMI accredited courses.

David Atkinson Training Consultant

David's career has taken him to regions as diverse as Thailand, Indonesia, China, Nigeria, Brazil and Stockport initially working as a Process Engineer, progressing to senior project engineering and manager levels. He has managed large-scale projects involving process plants for a wide range of materials, from edible oils to chocolate. His projects include new build and site expansions ranging in value from $20 – $80 million. He was educated at the University of Newcastle and graduated with a B Eng (Hons) in Chemical and Process Engineering. David has brought extensive experience to Adept where he now delivers the company's Operational and Tactical Project Management and Project Control training courses in the UK and Europe.
